Truxton Academy incorporates a research-
based curriculum for language arts, math, science, and social studies using a project- based approach.
Parents will be encouraged to be actively
involved.

NUTRITION AND LEARNING
Truxton Academy will participate in the School Breakfast Program and the National School Lunch Program, both
federally-assisted meal programs
- On-site school garden and composting
- On-site Rural Life Lab (In compliance with United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) and New York State Department of Health regulations)
- Field trips to local farms, businesses, and dairy manufacturers
PHYSICAL EDUCATION AND WELLNESS
Students will participate in traditional physical
education activities plus:
- Project Adventure focusing on teamwork and problem solving
- Hiking
- Gardening
- Maintaining domestic animal areas
- Other age and ability appropriate activities
Surrounding area attractions have ADA accessible areas:
- Labrador Hollow Unique Area
- Tinker Falls Trail, and
- Labrador Mountain Ski Center.
FAMILY CULTURE
Truxton Academy's goal is to create and maintain a safe, positive, respectful school family culture
for all children, staff, and families.
Programs To Achieve Our Goal:
- Positive Behavior Intervention - Supports specific safe, respectful, behavior for students as stated on a large poster in the main school hallway
- Conscious Discipline - A skill-based program focusing on safety, connection, and problem-solving. It creates a positive, healthy School Family by teaching
skills needed for self-regulation conflict resolution, and building respectful relationships.
- Character Education - Promotes positive character traits, including kindness, honesty helpfulness, and respect.
